Product Description
A part of a vehicle's drum braking system is the rear brake
cylinder, sometimes referred to as the rear wheel cylinder or brake
cylinder. It's in charge of giving the brake shoes hydraulic
pressure so they can press up against the brake drum and produce
braking power. To engage the rear drum brakes, the rear brake
cylinder transfers hydraulic pressure from the brake system into
mechanical force. Brake fluid is delivered from the master cylinder
to the rear brake cylinder when the brake pedal is depressed,
expanding a piston or pistons inside the cylinder. By pressing the
brake shoes up against the braking drum, this motion causes
friction, which slows down the car.
